Because of my wild imagination, I thought this cartoon would have been really dark!
At first it looked like a typical love story between two friends. As the story progressed at it's slow pace, The bad thoughts came to me. Will Basil commit suicide for not getting love from Rose? Is Rose's boyfriend homophobic? Will the boyfriend beat up Rose or kill Basil? What's going to happen!?
But in the end, Basil just cries and gets over it. Like any young adult dealing with relationship searching. Something I can totally relate to. Being an Asperger man who does his own thing.

As for the animation quality? It's definitely top notch. A bit too slow for my taste, But works really well. Slow animation is normally used for Animes with lots of visual details. But I supposed slow movements can work for simple characters too. Everything seen here is very great.

HAHAHA!! Fuck man, Naruto has really lost his touch over the years. Great vid!

Short Documentary videos like this are the way of future. Teaching you something cool while entertaining you with subjects you like. This is not like Modern Marvels from History channel. But I get the same feeling from watching that show and this video. I like this.

SchmidtTimes responds:

Thanks a bundle, pal. I'm inclined to agree! For me, this format was born of necessity since I couldn't conform to a weekly cadence and deliver the production values I was happy with if I produced over a minute. Keeping content condensed just makes sense, though: filler is unfulfilling to flesh out and just wastes the viewer's time, so nobody wins with artificial length! Haha

Not much of an animation. But a really good set up of a Storyboard. This is cool.

The animation is jaggity. But the textures are top notch and the art style is really one of a kind. The character's and story is something you'd have to watch the whole series to understand. And the cursing language is a plus. I think?

I don't know what the author will do next? But don't stop making art.

TheCrazedSide responds:

I definetely shall continue! :D Yeah the animation is the way it is since I animate the character's bones in real time [so I consider it more virtual puppetry than animation] mostly to save time, tho this clearly has a cost in quality. I do hope it doesn't take away too much from the story itself.

A very simple animation with great simple sex appeal. Nice.

A real good Newgrounds Animation right here. Voice acting, Visuals, Animation motions, It's all here.

It's all fine and good that COPPA is doing it's job with protecting Children under the age of 13. But at the same time, It only furthers the American stigma that "CaRtOoN's ArE JuSt FoR KiDs!"
Until the day mainstream America stops shaming it's own animation industry, Newgrounds will be around as the only sanctuary of True animation.

But as for this animation short: It is well made! trying to show the audience that cartoons are not for kids. Despite the main character/animator being a little childish himself. Very entertaining.

I am a novice animator who wants to work for a Professional animation company in the future. Through out my life, I have created many forms of Multi-media works of art. Traditional pencils, Digital images, and 2D/3D animations.
